Nicole H. du Château Montebello m'a envoyé un courriel hier pour me dire qu'elle avait vu des chenilles sur les asclépiades dans le jardin de papillons du Château Montebello.
Nous sommes tout de suite aller voir avant la noirceur. Nous avons trouvés 9 chenilles!!!
Plus tôt en soirée, lorsque je préparais le souper, j'avais trouvé 2 chenilles du papillon du céleri qui mangeaient mes plantes de persil. Je les ai rentrées dans mon mini laboratoire.

Hi all,
I found Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars as I was gathering parsley for dinner last night and I decided to bring them in so that my students would have something to observe.
Then, I received an excited email from the head gardener at the Château Montebello Resort yesterday evening saying her team had finally found caterpillars in the garden my grade 5 and 6 students had helped to plant last spring.
I picked the gardener up at her home armed with small cages yesterday evening and she and I drove back to the hotel gardens to go hunting before it got dark. We found 9 caterpillars (mostly stage 4).
My students start school on September 1st, so they will be greeted as usual by monarchs.
My lone egg is still just an egg. How long can the caterpillar stay in there?
