Big male in the field

Still no eggs, caterpillars or chrysalids...and it's getting late for us up here.
However, almost every since last Sunday, I've seen one big, healthy looking monarch.
Yesterday, a big, gorgeous male followed an acquaintance of mine, her 3 dogs and me all the way down the lane which crosses the fields in front of our house. It seemed to be playing. It danced over our heads, teasing the dogs, even landing for a few seconds on the gravel until a dog approached. By the time, I went inside to get my net it had disappeared.
Tomorrow is the first day of school and it looks as if it will be the second year in a row that I won't have any monarchs to release with my students.
